ColorFabb Carbon Fibre XT filament (otherwise known as the XT-CF20 filament) is one of ColorFabb’s finest creations. This copolyester filament is based on the Amphora 3D polymer, which is a low-odour and styrene-free material with an extremely high strength. On its own, such a filament would be great, but XT-CF20 has real carbon fibres too. In fact, over 20% of it is real carbon fibre, which means it’s the ideal material for parts that need to be very stiff.
Applications for this filament usually include parts for demanding mechanical properties and due to its accessible price, it is suitable for prototypes.
Once printed, the ColorFabb Carbon Fibre XT filament has a stunning matte black finish yet parts feel as though they weigh nothing. But don’t be fooled – parts printed with XT-CF20 are extremely strong and will outlive and outperform less robust filaments. Additionally, this filament has a very high melt strength alongside a high degree of accuracy and stability.
One thing to consider with this filament is the abrasive nature of carbon fibre. Printing with this filament will wear brass nozzles out very quickly. As such, ColorFabb and ourselves recommend that you only use XT-CF20 with stainless steel or hardened copper alloy nozzles.
