Please note: Resin Tank LT is required when using Rigid and Grey Pro Resins.
The resin tank is an essential component of the Form 2 3D printer, and it is absolutely vital that it is in perfect condition for you to get the most from your Form 2.
Unfortunately, it isn’t a matter of if the Form 2’s resin tank will need replacing but when, because over time the polydimethylsiloxane silicone (PDMS) layer covering the base of the tank where the resin sits wears out. When this happens, you must replace the tank. If you do not, then your prints will start to get less and less detailed and consistent, and they may even fail completely. And with 1L resin cartridges costing a fair amount, this isn’t an option.
You will also need to replace your resin tank if the silicone or optical window is scratched or gauged. Working with a damaged resin tank will block the laser, and cause prints to fail.
The good news is that a new resin tank doesn’t cost all that much and it will typically last you through 2-3 bottles of resin, or 2000-3000ml. So home users should get good use out of a resin tank, although industrial users will naturally get through tanks quite quickly.
Here are some of the common questions we get
for Formlabs Form 2 Resin Tank, if you have any more questions, please
don't hesitate to email web@goprint3d.co.uk
or phone 01765 540 115.
Yes. You can reuse resin that is in your tank after a print, please do not return resin to the resin cartridge to avoid potential contamination. The Form 2 orange cover protects unused resin from ambient light.
Outside of the printer or resin cartridge, resin can be stored in the standard Resin Tank with the lid on for up to one month and in Resin Tank LT with the lid on for up to two months. Empty or use any excess resin before storing resin tanks for longer than this. Do not pour liquid resin back into the original container.
