New for 2019, the Form 3B is a high-performance Advanced Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) 3D printer optimised for dental. It is the most accurate Formlabs printer yet, offering unrivalled model surface quality and clarity.
Built for Dental
Optimisation for dental comes by way of a new light engine, which moves the laser consistently across the build platform. This consistency translates to a repeatable 3D printing experience, whether you are prototyping or printing a biocompatible product. It achieves perfect linear illumination for high precision.
The Form 3B is designed to run 24/7 and maximise results using Formlabs’ Dental Resins. These include Model Resin, Surgical Guide Resin, Dental LT Clear Resin, Castable Wax Resin, Grey Resin and Digital Dentures Resin.
The Light Processing Unit (LPU), rollers, and optics window are user-replaceable, to maximise uptime for non-stop printing.
You can also print multiple models in one sitting, thanks to the 14.5 × 14.5 × 18.5 cm (5.7 × 5.7 × 7.3 in) build volume. This can save significant production time and help you meet the growing demands of patients and customers.
Low Force Stereolithography
One of the biggest advantages of LFS is it significantly reduces the peel forces exerted on models during printing. These forces are a weakness of inverted SLA, because they directly affect a print as it separates from the surface of the tank.
With LFS, these forces are reduced to such a point that peeling becomes a non-issue and you can build light-touch support structure, which you can literally twist and snap to release from a model without risk of damaging it. This is beneficial for dental because many models require significant support structure.
With the Form 3B, dental professionals can print anything, from biocompatible models to 3D printed products like dentures and surgical guides.
The Form 3B’s also equipped to make life easier. There are optical sensors that automatically correct for scale and power during printing, sensors that detect dust, and sensors that monitor prints and provide feedback in real-time. Swapping out materials is a job that takes seconds thanks to the innovative cartridge system.
With the ability to print multiple models and parts in one sitting with extreme surface quality and clarity, the Form 3B is the best choice for dental. Contact us to find out more, or for advice about choosing the right 3D printer.
