Leapfrog MAXX Essentials PLA is a high-performance 3D printing material offering fast print speeds and excellent accuracy and detail. It is an extremely versatile material, with a very smooth finish when printed, and it is less prone to splitting than ABS.
Possibly the best property of PLA however is that it is biodegradable. It is also manufactured from renewable sources. This makes it the ideal choice when 3D printing products that need to be environmentally friendly. For example, a bottle made from PLA left in the ocean would degrade in around 24 months. Compare that to the several thousand years an ABS bottle would take to degrade, and you can see why PLA is so widely appreciated.
MAXX Essentials PLA from Leapfrog is available in several opaque colours, including Raven Black, Tooth White, No-Nonsense Natural, Sunny Yellow and Brilliant Blue. Parts printed with PLA are ultra-smooth and have a semi-matte appearance. More detail can be captured than with ABS and there’s a reduced chance of splitting between layers. It has an extrusion temperature of 205-215 °C and a recommended bed temperature of 45 °C. It is compatible with and supported by the Leapfrog Bolt, Creatr HS, Create HS XL, Xeed and Xcel 3D printers.
