Formlabs created the world’s first affordable, high resolution stereolithography 3D printer in the Form 1+ and they improved upon their award-winning machine with the Form 2. With an intuitive, stylish and robust design, all Formlabs printers are perfect for rapid prototyping and end-use parts. The first integrated colour mixing solution for stereolithography, the Colour Kit from Formlabs allows you to print in colour without the need to spend ages painting. This kit is the only way to achieve compatible coloured resin for your Form 2. Using any other resin or pigment not included in this kit is not advised and could lead to ruination of both resin cartridge and resin tank.
1. Select a colour - there are 16 fully tested colours to choose from in the recipe book, or you can create your own.
2. Add Pigment - follow the recipe and add the correct amounts of pigment to your base cartridge.
3. Shake - shake your cartridge to mix the pigment with your base resin (make sure you turn it and shake vigorously for at least 4 minutes).
4. Print - once the colour is ready simply insert the cartridge into your Form 2 and print as normal.

If you wish to experiment, there are no guarantees, but you can try mixing your own colour based on RGB or hexadecimal code - create 3D prints in your brand colours!
Form X is Formlabs' experimental product platform. Form X showcases innovative tools, materials, and approaches, for advanced users who want to explore the boundaries of what's possible with desktop stereolithography (SLA).
Founded in 2011, Massachusetts-based 3D printer manufacturer Formlabs are one of the leaders in the desktop-class stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer market.
Since being founded, Formlabs has invested considerably in research and development to create and manufacture what is without doubt one of the finest SLA desktop 3D printers on the market - the Formlabs Form 2.
Utilising stereolithography as opposed to the better-known fused filament fabrication 3D printing process, you can print high-resolution models that you wouldn’t necessarily be able to with an FFF 3D printer. This reality has put the Formlabs Form series of 3D printers in engineering, design, research, medical, dentistry, art and many other industries that require consistent, high resolution parts and models.
Although the Form 2 is Formlabs’ latest 3D printer, they still manufacture its predecessor the Form 1+ which was announced in 2014. The Form 1+ has a 40 per cent smaller build volume than the Form 2 and it is slower and less precise. For this reason, the Form 2 is the best option for any application, and we recommend this model first and foremost. The gulf in class between the 1+ and 2 offers a tantalising glimpse into the future for Formlabs, though, with future Formlabs 3D printers expected to be even faster and more accurate.
