We are the 3D printing arm of a larger company called Express Group Ltd. Fixing printers since 1988, today we are a Specialist Parts Distributor and Experts in 3D Printing.
We take quality control very seriously, which is why we are audited for ISO9001:2015 certification, this helps ensure we provide great customer service.
Formlabs created the world’s first affordable, high resolution stereolithography 3D printer in the Form 1+ and they improved upon their award-winning machine with the Form 2. With an intuitive, stylish and robust design, all Formlabs printers are perfect for rapid prototyping and end-use parts. Formlabs’ High-Temp Resin is a high-performance resin that’s been designed for prototyping. It has an extremely high heat deflection temperature of 289 °C (version 1) and 238 °C (version 2), which makes it suitable for injection moulding and testing hot air and fluid flow.
High-Temp Resin is also Ideally suited to production processes like casting and thermoforming. It’s mouldable and extremely durable when printed, and it offers a very high level of detail reproduction. It has the highest heat deflection temperature of any 3D printing material on the market making it capable of withstanding significant thermal stress.
This resin comes supplied as a cartridge, for use with the Form 2 3D printer. It is also compatible with the Form 1+ printer, just pour the resin out into the tray.
The Form 2 is Formlabs’ most advanced 3D printer to date, with a sliding peel mechanism that gently removes parts from the print bed, and an automated resin system, that refills the tank automatically when it detects resin levels are running low. High-Temp Resin makes full use of the Form 2’s 35 °C heated resin tank; it is gently heated in the tank for consistent results.
Formlabs’ High-Temp Resin is suited to design, engineering and manufacturing applications where extreme thermal resistance is desired.
- High temp resin prints must be soaked in IPA for no longer than 10 minutes or it will begin to absorb the IPA.
- It must be dried thoroughly before UV curing to avoid cracking.
- Post curing is necessary to achieve the high heat deflection temperature.
- Post curing using a UV light with wavelength between 365nm and 405nm (for best results use 365nm) for 1 hour.
Founded in 2011, Massachusetts-based 3D printer manufacturer Formlabs are one of the leaders in the desktop-class stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer market.
Since being founded, Formlabs has invested considerably in research and development to create and manufacture what is without doubt one of the finest SLA desktop 3D printers on the market - the Formlabs Form 2.
Utilising stereolithography as opposed to the better-known fused filament fabrication 3D printing process, you can print high-resolution models that you wouldn’t necessarily be able to with an FFF 3D printer. This reality has put the Formlabs Form series of 3D printers in engineering, design, research, medical, dentistry, art and many other industries that require consistent, high resolution parts and models.
Although the Form 2 is Formlabs’ latest 3D printer, they still manufacture its predecessor the Form 1+ which was announced in 2014. The Form 1+ has a 40 per cent smaller build volume than the Form 2 and it is slower and less precise. For this reason, the Form 2 is the best option for any application, and we recommend this model first and foremost. The gulf in class between the 1+ and 2 offers a tantalising glimpse into the future for Formlabs, though, with future Formlabs 3D printers expected to be even faster and more accurate.
