Leapfrog has created an outstanding range of filaments for use with their 3D printers. Split into a MAXX Essentials and MAXX Pro range, there’s a filament for every project. All filaments come supplied on a spool and depending on the filament in question there should be different colours to choose from. Here’s a brief overview of the two ranges:

Leapfrog MAXX Essentials

This range includes MAXX Essentials ABS and PLA. ABS is ideally suited to printing robust parts, such as product casings, while PLA offers greater printing speed and part detail. The MAXX Essentials range is affordable and ideally suited to educational applications.

Leapfrog MAXX Pro filaments

The MAXX Pro range includes PLA, HIPS (a water-soluble material for support structure), Laybrick (looks and feels like real brick), Wood (looks and feels like real wood), Hybrid (offers the print speed of PLA with the robustness of ABS), Carbon (PET-G with 20% carbon filament for strength), PVA (a water soluble material with exceptional thermal stability), Flex (a material with high elasticity and flexibility), Nylon (a super-strong core filament) and PET-G (a strong and weatherproof material that’s recyclable). The MAXX Pro range is designed for professional applications, to create functional end-use parts and products.
