Stereolithography 3D printers print with a special resin that may need to be cured using UV light. The purpose of a UV curing chamber is to create a chemical reaction post-print, during which printed parts becomes stronger. The UV curing chambers for sale at GoPrint3D have been tried and tested by our team, so you can have every confidence in them to do the job.
If you have a stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer, such as a Formlabs Form 2, then you will need a way to post-cure parts with UV light.
Post-curing enables parts to reach the highest strength possible, so that they become stable. This is particularly important for parts that will be used in mechanical assemblies, or for functional parts. To give you an example of what post-curing with UV light does, with Formlabs Castable resin, it ensures a successful burnout. However, it is important to remember that different resins react in different ways to UV light.
Another consideration that needs to be made is with regards to wavelength. In tests, SLA 3D printer manufacturer Formlabs found that post-curing with a 405nm light source was superior to post-curing with a lower wavelength light, such as 365nm. Formlabs also found that the optimum flux was 1.25mW/cm2 - meaning, post-curing at a higher temperature is optimal. However, you should refer to the resin manufacturer’s instructions regarding this.
